Stick Camp Canada is the 23rd annual Chapman Stick gathering in British Columbia hosted by Vancouver Stick player Jim Meyer. Stick Camp Canada is a gathering of players of all skill levels, in order to share ideas and make music together.
Chapman Stick Legends Converge on Vancouver
This year, Jim is joined by two early adopters and legends in the Stick World, Bob Culbertson and Don Schiff!

Don Schiff is perhaps best known as the Master of the NS/Stick, but Don has been writing, teaching and performing with the Stick and Grand Stick instruments since the ’70s. Originally a bassist, Don brings great ideas on controlling the bottom end of your sound. A long time member of Rocket Scientists, Don has written for everything from audio books to film to web series.
An early adopter of the Stick, Bob Culbertson has been playing and teaching on the instrument since the ’70s. Bob’s music incorporates elements of Celtic, Spanish, Classical and Blues. Always exploring, Bob has added handpan, digeridoo and Shruti box to his recordings and performances. Bob’s Lessons on the Chapman Stick video series has helped countless Stick players. Jim Meyer is a Vancouver-based Chapman Stick player and the host of Stick Camp Canada. This is Jim’s 23rd International Stick event in British Columbia. The events draw Chapman Stick players from across North America, South America and Europe.
Stick Camp Canada is a 3-day Stick immersion experience in Vancouver. Thursday through Saturday, we will be in the University Endowment Lands – a beautiful wooded area near the University of British Columbia.
Stick Camp Canada is an opportunity to mingle, learn, compose and perform with fellow Stick players from around the world. Stick Camp is a great opportunity to share ideas and techniques.
It is a celebration of the life and creations of Emmett Chapman (1936-2021).

- Thursday, August 14: Seminar 9:30-4:00, then Bob, Don and Jim perform at Frankie’s at 8pm
- Friday, August 15: Seminar 10:00-4:00, then house concert 6-8pm
- Saturday, August 16: Seminar 10:00-4:00, then house concert 6-8pm
