A Day at Stick Camp Canada
Stick Camp Canada has 2 main objectives: performance and sharing. Our schedule each day is driven by these two objectives, so there is no fixed schedule before we all arrive on the island, other than an optional morning music session and the evening performances. So our schedule for the day will be announced during breakfast. Spontaneity welcome!
Much of the afternoon will be devoted to various forms of sharing: informal one-on-one sessions, performance rehearsal and preparation, jamming, and informal conversation. Or maybe a little time in the hot tub out on the sun deck.
Have something you wish to share?
Everyone attending is encouraged to share their musical ideas, experiences, and techniques in whatever setting is most comfortable: presenting to the entire group, sharing in small groups, or one-on-one. And we don’t have to be in a classroom, either!
Emmett Online
This is our 3rd year visiting with Emmett Chapman online. We’ll have a couple of Skype sessions with Emmett, who is entertaining, informative, and answers pretty near every question we throw at him. Emmett is super friendly in these sessions, so if you’ve ever wanted to ask the Master . . .
Need a little time to yourself?
Stick Camp Canada is about spending time with other Stick players! Open hours are scheduled for reflecting, relaxing and sharing ideas. But Gabriola Island is also a lovely place to find solitude. Perhaps while walking along the shore at low tide.
Or a quiet spot in the woods with a view of the Salish Sea. Both are only steps away!
Activities include:
-
optional morning lesson
- informal, one-on-one time with other Stick players of all levels
-
